A second pair of eyes and ears. Cameras off until you ask. Listening only when needed. A companion, not a spy.
We're designing the Companion to help people read text, follow a conversation and translate short exchanges. It would use Brilliant Labs Halo glasses and a phone without building a record of what people see or say. The product and its privacy promises still need testing.
What we're designing
Use the glasses for hands-free help with signs and large text at a distance, or a phone for print, labels and screens. The design calls for cameras to stay off until a reading task starts.
Captions and translation are intended to run on the phone for supported languages, without automatically saving conversations. These are design goals, not tested product capabilities.
The story behind the idea
